Harold Washington College (HWC), one of the City Colleges of Chicago, is located in the heart of Chicago’s Loop and serves over 9,000 students in college credit and continuing education programs. HWC is a proud federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and Minority-Serving Institution, dedicated to supporting a student body that is over 75 percent Black and Latine.

The Associate Dean – Transfer Focus, provides academic leadership and operational management for credit-bearing programs intended for transfer to four-year universities. Accountable for developing and administering instructional programs; faculty hiring and evaluation; budget development and oversight; managing the annual ICCB Program Review process; providing administrative support to the college’s Assessment Committee; managing the academic side of the college’s Dual Credit program;

and strengthening the delivery of instruction and the quality of the learning environment to ensure student success. This position also plays a lead role in key grants and resource development for the college as related to completion and transfer.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: This position ensures quality instruction and assists in the enhancement and continuous improvement of educational programs by evaluating faculty.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluates full-time and part-time faculty to ensure continuity of quality classroom instruction. Recommends enhancement, retention or non-retention. Provides written and verbal feedback on instructional quality according to Board/Union Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Coordinates and directs the evaluation, review, and implementation of innovative curriculum additions and revisions. Reviews course outlines and syllabi and offers feedback and assistance.
