Job Summary The Leadership Development Office (LDO) for MBA Programs oversees a portfolio of developmental programs at the Hyde Park and downtown Chicago campuses at the Booth School of Business. This includes an experiential class (LEAD) required of all MBA students. Other program offerings for the LDO include experiential workshops and coaching to further MBA students’ leadership development. The LDO serves full-time, evening, and weekend students, and partners with colleagues to serve executive MBA students.

Each Coach plays a role in designing and managing particular programmatic offerings. Additionally, each Coach supports the full complement of programs through activities such as individual and team coaching and workshop facilitation. Finally, each Coach owns a set of administrative responsibilities necessary to the success of the LDO. Coaches are a part of a team that collectively manages all office activities.

The program of primary concern for this role is the Full-Time LEAD class. LEAD is a course that is required for all MBA candidates during their first quarter  course itself is taught by a group of second-year MBA students (called “Facilitators”), who are selected and trained by the LDO via a lab class that we teach. Of primary concern for this role is the design and administration of that lab class, as well as management of the content presented by the Facilitators.

Responsibilities

  • Works independently to develop leadership education and other programming. Reviews work of teams of student facilitators in the creation and delivery of classroom modules for the programs. This includes understanding MBA student learning needs and aspirations, understanding the LDO learning from experience model and metrics for success, creating and implementing developmental programming that catalyzes students’ growth as leaders, promoting programs to attract and engage students, and overseeing daily operations for assigned programs.
  • Develops and implements training exercises and workshops that support the learning of the facilitators and participants. Provides individual coaching to facilitators in their process of developing and delivering the programs, and acts as a content resource to facilitators. Serves as a process consultant and attends class sessions, committee meetings, module tests, and other involvement in activities that the facilitators undertake.
