Position: Assistant Professor of Secondary Education - Science (Graduate Level)

Overview

THE OPPORTUNITY

The National College of Education (NCE) at National Louis University is pleased to announce its search for a full-time faculty member at the secondary level. We seek a colleague who can help provide leadership to the program in Natural Sciences Education (biology, physics, chemistry, geology). This is a full-time, 10-month, open-ranking (Assistant/Associate) faculty position. The successful candidate will possess expertise in secondary education to support the growth of teacher preparation programs and to teach graduate-level coursework at the master's level.

Candidates will promote the infusion of current research-based and culturally responsive teaching methods into curriculum and instruction in NCE's traditional and alternative Secondary Education programs.

  • Teaching content methods courses and practices corresponding to science curriculum expertise
  • Coaching teacher candidates in field-based learning experiences
  • Collaborating across disciplines to analyze teacher and student learning data to continuously design innovative teacher preparation practices
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate earned in Science Education or related educational field
  • Three or more years of secondary-level teaching experience related to the field of science
  • Demonstrated or planned scholarly research agenda focused on science, secondary education, or teacher education
  • Strong commitment to fostering and promoting quality education that is accessible for all students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Is well-versed in the learning sciences and innovative applications of emerging technologies
