Salary: $75,000 to $95,000 (clinical instructor level; 9‑month appointment paid over 12 months). Salary commensurate with qualifications and internal equity. Faculty salary ranges are available on the UIC College of Nursing Jobs Page.

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Nursing invites exceptional and promising nurse leaders to apply for part‑time and full‑time Clinical Instructor positions in the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing Science. Faculty advance biological, behavioral and clinical science for adults with complex health disorders such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and more. Faculty are leaders in professional organizations and serve on national research and professional boards.

Duties & Responsibilities

Teaching: Participate in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching (traditional classroom lectures, seminars, distance learning, and small groups for clinical instruction).
Key activities include:

  • Participation in scholarly teaching/learning activities (e.g., developing evidence‑based learning objects/tools)
  • Clinical supervision or guidance of students, acting as a role model or clinical preceptor

Scholarship/Research: Engage in nursing scholarship and research across broad content areas, diverse designs and strategies.
Key activities include:

  • Evidence of scholarly activities (presentations, publications, guideline development)
  • Practice‑related publications
  • Support and participation in research activities

Practice/Service: Contribute to the university’s service mission commensurate with time allocated to the College. Service activities are conducted in a culturally safe manner and demonstrate value for diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. Key activities include:

  • Membership in professional organizations
  • Participation in clinical practice committees
  • Clinical practice in area of specialization or expertise (e.g., clinical specialist, manager, nurse practitioner in a healthcare agency)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) at the time of appointment.
  • For Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care NP or Adult‑Gerontology Primary Care NP, board certification and eligibility for licensure in Illinois.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in nursing or related sciences at the time of appointment.
