The Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (Illinois
COM) seeks a physician educator and leader to serve as founding faculty. This full‑time position is open to candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor. Academic rank will be determined by The Chicago School & Illinois
COM academic rank policy.
- Provide leadership and supervision of preclinical osteopathic medical students within Illinois
COM. - Serve as co‑course director for the first‑year PCOP course; lead PCOP lecture and lab didactic sessions.
- Assist with curriculum development and assessment in the PCOP course.
- Develop and deliver an interdisciplinary PCOP curriculum; teach medical students using evidence‑based methods including OMM lab supervision.
- Support student coaching, mentoring, and professional development in academic and clinical settings.
- Represent the College in professional organizations; assist with student recruitment and community outreach; serve on Illinois
COM curriculum committee. - Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education.
- Engage in clinical practice (strongly encouraged).
- DO with board certification or eligibility in a related specialty.
- At least 1 year of experience in medical education (including residency participation).
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship.
- Strong supervisory, interpersonal communication (verbal and written), and problem‑solving skills.
- Motivation to contribute to the growth and development of the OMM department and overall university.
- Commitment to collaborative, interprofessional education and the integration of osteopathic principles in training.
- At least 1 year of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine clinical practice and teaching experience.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Experience as a course or co‑course director in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at an accredited osteopathic medical school.
- Experience as program director or faculty in an ONMM +1 residency program.
- ONMM Board Certification/Eligibility, CS‑POMM, and/or prior NUFA graduate.
- Strong background in point‑of‑care ultrasound, educational innovation, simulation‑based training, and competency‑based assessment.
- Established record of research and scholarly activity in medical education or respective specialty.
- Demonstrated commitment to health equity, diversity, and inclusion in clinical practice and medical education.
- Salary: $175,000 – $300,000 base, commensurate with rank and experience.

This position offers a base compensation of $175,000 to $300,000 annually.
