Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, a Jesuit, college-preparatory, co-educational school serving students in grades 9-12, seeks a qualified and mission-driven Spanish Heritage Language teacher for a mid-year start. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to Catholic education and a willingness to work with a population of diverse learners. The successful Cristo Rey teacher is dedicated to developing the whole person in academics, spiritual and personal growth.

• The candidate will be responsible for teaching five sections within the Spanish department, with subjects commensurate with experience and staffing needs.

• Minimum of a BA degree in subject area; MA preferred.
• Illinois Professional Educator License preferred (non-licensed applicants must become certified within five years).
• Successful teaching experience at the secondary level preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; familiarity with the goals, objectives, and mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School; ability to respond effectively to the needs of students.

• Fluent in conversational and academic Spanish.
• Understanding of educational theory and practice.
• Ability to use technology inside and outside the classroom.
• Commitment to working with a diverse student body.
• Familiar with first-generation students preferred.
• Willingness to collaborate with others.
• Familiarity with current instructional methodologies.
• Classroom management skills.

Base pay range: $51,328.00/hr - $70,517.00/hr compensation is commensurate with relevant teaching experience and established Faculty Compensation schedule.

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School provides a Catholic, college-preparatory education and professional work experience to students from Spanish-speaking families in the Chicago area. The school pioneered the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) to help make Cristo Rey sustainable and affordable. The CWSP enables students to earn a majority of their annual education cost by working one school day per week at a local corporation.
