Overview
Amergis is seeking a passionate and qualified Special Education Teacher (LBS1) to join a middle school team in Chicago, IL. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment, providing specialized instruction and collaborating with general education staff to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Salary: $1875 / Week
Special Education Teacher (LBS1) – Middle School | Chicago, IL | $50/hr
Location: Chicago, IL 60644
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:25 AM – 3:15 PM
Grade Level: Middle School (7th/8th)
Classroom Type: Half Co-Taught / Half Inclusion
Caseload: 10–12 students
Para Support: Varies by placement
Modality: In-person
Position Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality instruction to students with special needs
- Participate in planning and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Provide tutorial assistance and consult with general education staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all educational standards
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
- Valid Illinois teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements (LBS1 preferred)
- Minimum of one year of teaching experience (preferred)
- Certifications in Standard Elementary, Secondary, or Special Teaching (preferred)
- CPR certification (if applicable)
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray (if applicable)
- Current health certificate (per contract/state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
