Overview
Serve as a one- to two-year ministry resident at Resurrection Covenant Church with a primary focus on children and youth formation. Assist the Pastor of Children’s Formation in leading Resurrection Covenant Church’s children and youth ministry, prepare for and teach Res Cov Kids (RCK) classes during worship, and support related activities throughout the year. Assist with leading and potentially expanding programming for Res Cov High (RCH) (7th‑12th graders).
Throughout the residency, take part in a structured learning and teaching cohort through the pilot program for Justice Journey for Kids, a curriculum developed by Dominique Gilliard, Director of Racial Righteousness and Reconciliation of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
- Build steady, meaningful relationships with children and their families to nurture Christian formation in age‑appropriate and culturally aware ways.
- Plan, prepare, and lead various aspects of Res Cov Kids (RCK) and Res Cov High (RCH), including weekly classes, volunteer support, activity coordination, and ensuring children are welcomed, engaged, and cared for during worship and other congregational events.
- Engage with 7th‑12th graders through First Fridays and build relationships with college‑age students.
- Attend larger church events such as potlucks, spring church retreats, Easter‑related activities, community life events, sporting events, and plays to deepen relationships.
- Participate in additional ministry development opportunities such as occasional preaching, worship planning, adult formation, outreach, and justice ministries.

This is a minimum one‑year, maximum two‑year residency. After the first year, the resident must become a church member to continue for a second year or beyond.
CompensationHousing in the first floor of the church parsonage (3‑flat: 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom) located next‑door to the church. More details will be provided in an offer letter, should one be made.
Hour Requirements20 hours per week
PTOTwo weeks’ vacation (missing no more than two Sundays), with timing mutually agreed upon by the Senior Pastor. In addition, we will provide what is required to comply with the Chicago Paid Leave and Paid Sick Leave Ordinance.
