Job Summary
A dynamic opportunity for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in American Sign Language (ASL) within educational settings. The role supports Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students across a cooperative special education program serving multiple districts. Candidates will provide vital communication access in various classrooms and therapy sessions for students ranging from preschool to upper elementary levels.
Locations & Assignments- Villa Park, IL – North Elementary School (Full‑time, 7:45 am – 3:15 pm). Serves a Self‑Contained DHH program with ASL interpretation across multiple activities including gym, art, music, music therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and English Learner services.
- Hinsdale, IL – Oak Elementary School (Part‑time, 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm). Provides 1:1 interpreting services for a preschool student.
Contract Duration:
Immediate start through May 20th, 2026.
- Facilitate ASL interpretation to ensure effective communication between students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and their educational team.
- Support academic, therapeutic, and extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other interpreters within a cohesive support network.
- Active Illinois ASL Educator Certification required.
- EIPA Score of 3.5 or higher or current registration with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).
- Proven experience working with DHH students in educational environments preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
