The Department of Educational Leadership and Human Services at Saint Joseph’s University invites applications for an Adjunct Professor in Counseling (both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling). Part-time adjunct faculty may instruct 1 or 2 courses each semester on an “as needed” basis. This is an online only program with online only teaching possibilities. Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) offers a wide variety of bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, associate and certificate programs. With a commitment to personalized attention through a low faculty to student ratio, SJU may call on the expertise of adjunct instructors to complement the work of full-time faculty across all of its colleges and schools.

SJU appoints part-time, non-tenure track adjunct instructors on a semester-to-semester basis with no guarantee of consecutive appointments. Re-appointment is based on university need, student enrollment, and satisfactory performance. Applicants for these positions are screened on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the department chair. Compensation for adjunct instructors is commensurate with educational credentials, professional, experience and instructional background.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide support and guidance to students

• Instruct an assigned course providing syllabi and other instructional materials

• Use of university learning management systems to deliver instruction

• Adjunct/affiliate faculty are expected to teach a specified online or face to face course(s)

• Prepare course materials; provide support and guidance to students; and report grades.

• Required qualifications include a doctoral Degree in counseling or closely related majors or a master’s degree and unique or outstanding expertise in counseling.

Physical and Other Requirements

• May require standing for long periods of time

• May require talking for long periods of time

• May require carrying course materials
