Senior Risk Engineering Consultant at Zurich North America

Zurich is currently looking for a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant with extensive experience in power plant operations to join the Global Energy – Power Generation team. This is a work‑from‑home role ideally within the Western U.S. (other U.S. locations will also be considered) with expected travel up to 50% to service accounts across the country.

This position supports Power Generation Risk Engineering by helping the team manage the workload associated with Power Generation Underwriting and field assignments.

• Advanced risk assessment of plant machinery and fire protection equipment risks, including associated business interruption within the power generation industry.
• Provide consultative services to customers: identify exposures with significant loss potential, investigate cause/effect of major losses, and develop management programs.
• Deliver power generation training for Risk Engineering staff, Underwriting staff, and customers; handle service design and coordination, mentoring, marketing, and loss investigations.
• Manage account risk portfolio and provide engineering support to meet underwriting requirements.
• Market Zurich products in conjunction with underwriting professionals and agents across business segments.
• Develop and implement customer service strategies that reduce loss and improve operations.

Final candidates will be subject to a Motor Vehicle record background check, as this position may include a company car depending on location and expected annual mileage.

• Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of experience in the Power Generation Risk Engineering area, OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8+ years of experience in the Power Generation Risk Engineering area, OR
• Zurich Certified Apprentice with an Associate’s degree and 6+ years of experience in the Power Generation Risk Engineering area, and experience working in a team environment.

• 10+ years of experience in Risk Engineering or power generation plant operations/maintenance with machinery assessment experience.
• Military experience in propulsion plants and power generation equipment.
• Related energy industry experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Advanced knowledge of exposure controls and industry segment.
• Certification in a specialty area (e.g., Risk Engineering Power Generation Machinery Breakdown assessments).

The compensation range for this position is $98,300.00 – $, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%. The range is nationwide and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials.
