In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in engineering and design of the HVAC and plumbing systems in various types of facilities.

The HVAC Team is engaged in the following:

• Design and Construction Activities
• Project Delivery Methods - Traditional Design-Bid-Build and Alternative Conceptual-Bid-Build
• Facility Types – Power Generation buildings, Substations, Oil & Gas structures and Energy Storage buildings
• Systems – HVAC and Plumbing
• Type of Areas – Power Generation Hall, Administrative, Warehouse, Maintenance, Workshop, Laboratory, Chemical Storage & Handling, Electrical Distribution Center, Low & Medium Voltage Switchgear, Pump Areas, Engine Generator, Blowers/Air Compressors, and Flammable & Combustible Liquids Storage
• Energy Audit/Efficiency - Engineering studies, system performance reviews, and energy compliance calculations
• Code Review/Application - Facility review for code compliance
• Sustainable Design/LEED - Application of sustainable strategies

The Mechanical Buildings Design Group provides HVAC and plumbing solutions for Black & Veatch’s three market sectors – Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. Basic knowledge of the following areas:

• NFPA standards
• Computer generated HVAC heat loads, energy modeling and HVAC equipment sizing
• Technical submittal reviewing process, bid reviewing process
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Leed AP certified professional with experience in obtaining LEED certification for industrial buildings
• Extensive experience with large-scale water‑cooled chillers is preferred
• International Codes Council (ICC) Suite of Codes
• ASHRAE Handbooks / Standards
• SMACNA Standards

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program in the applicant’s home country or the country in which the professional is practicing, or equivalent engineering work experience. Minimum of five years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, which may include criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries.
