About the position

The ECA Solar team is expanding our development efforts on large-scale ground mounts and energy storage projects across the US, and we are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our team. This is a hands-on, leadership position. You will work alongside our team of project developers, design engineers, civil engineers, and engineering consultants to develop, design, and permit prospective large-scale solar and energy storage projects.

This position reports to the Director of Civil Engineering and serves as our in-house civil entitlement expert. Your role will be to gain approvals on civil entitlements, perform civil site and stormwater design, and estimate the civil scope of work for your projects. This position is a strategic addition to our team as we continue to grow our portfolio of renewable energy assets.

Job Duties /Responsibilities
  • Lead civil site development and permitting efforts for large-scale solar and energy storage projects.
  • Coordinate with project developers, design engineers, and permitting authorities to secure approvals.
  • Design civil site plans and stormwater management solutions.
  • Estimate civil scope of work costs for projects.
  • Serve as the civil entitlement expert within the team, providing guidance and support.
  • Review and critique work products from engineering partners.
  • Engage effectively with internal teams and external partners to meet project goals.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of full-time experience in site development and permitting.
  • Strong management and engagement skills with engineering partners and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Experience reviewing and critiquing engineering work products.
  • Self-motivated with effective collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, HYDROCAD, and MS Office.
  • Passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
  • Civil PE License; ability to become licensed in additional states is a plus.

  • Starting at a competitive six-figure salary of $160,000.
