This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.

Responsibilities
  • Develop mechanical physical layout drawings in a 3-D model as part of a multi‑disciplinary engineering and design team.
  • Design mechanical systems, investigate, troubleshoot, and solve diverse mechanical design issues.
  • Use 3D modeling software tools to generate mechanical design schematics.
  • Coordinate detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated mechanical design model.
  • Provide support to other designers and project team members to ensure a complete and timely design.
  • Plan and execute mechanical design deliverables (general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping composites, pipe support drawings, equipment location drawings) independently or as part of a team.
  • Assist senior designers and engineers in field walk‑downs and data gathering at client facilities.
  • Guide others in drafting tools and mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Associate’s Degree in drafting, or high school diploma with equivalent technical experience.
  • 6+ years of detailed physical design experience in mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.
  • Proficiency with design software tools for executing 3D plant layout models.
  • Experience reviewing mechanical equipment, including outlines and interface points, and coordinating associated deliverables.
  • Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.
Valued But Not Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Proficiency with Micro Station.

Compensation

$58,930.00 – $87,460.00 (base salary) with potential discretionary bonus.

Transparency Statement

Sargent & Lundy discloses compensation ranges that comply with all local and state regulations. The total compensation package includes a base salary or hourly rate and a comprehensive benefits package. Individuals may also be eligible for yearly discretionary bonus.
