The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) Joint Venture, comprising VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction, has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension (RLE) project—the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The RLE Mainline Design-Build (MDB) Project will extend the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, from the 95th/Dan Ryan terminal south to 130th Street and Doty Avenue.

The role of the Civil Works Design Coordinator is to ensure (design wise):
- Most cost-effective design
- Constructability
- Safety in Design
- Plan, develop and organize the design efforts focused on civil works. Provide administrative and technical support and direction of Design.
- Act as a technical reference for the construction team, coordinating with all parties.
- Serve as the referent in the technical aspect of civil works design, procurement and future construction.
- Manage the civil works Designer (earthworks, drainage, Management of Traffic, roads, pavement, utilities deviation) and interface with other disciplines: system, track, structure, stations.
- Key actor in the Design approval process, including design review, constructability review, means and methods interface and incorporation, client review, 3rd party review, permitting process.
- Review and approve drawings developed by subcontractors and other Designers during different project phases.
- Manage requests for information from designers.
- Review and approve subcontractor’s requests.
- Develop key performance indicators.
- Promote and implement Safety in Design and Environment in Design.

- Dynamic and challenging work environment.
- Includes tasks such as maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, ensuring equipment operates efficiently, and adhering to safety protocols on construction sites.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) on-site.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Walking and standing while in-office or on-site.
- Occasional climbing on and off equipment and bending to inspect.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- 5-10 years’ engineering design experience within Design-Build Projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Minimum 5 years in design and/or design management of civil works and associated technical trades.
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others.
- Broad generalized knowledge of personnel safety, process safety, and environmental principles/regulations.
- Project management and administrative skills to plan, organize, coordinate, and control multiple projects including cost and schedule control.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of a structured project management or project development and execution process is a plus.
- Excellent technical and problem solving skills to identify alternatives and select the most appropriate solution with minimal guidance.
- Experience working on Joint Venture (JV) construction projects required.
- Fluent in English with professional proficiency.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).
- Experience in AutoCAD.
