As the EPM, you will coordinate the budgets and schedules for all engineering deliverables related to the Partner Agency’s major programs, as well as monitoring, reporting, and forecasting deliverables for their assigned portfolio of projects within the Partner Agency’s Capital and Annual Operating Plans.
In this role the EPM may support Capital Programs of various agencies within the City of Chicago and its surrounding communities. Previous programs have included the City of Chicago Department of Transportation, its Board of Education, and the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) program. EssentialDuties/Functions and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the various aspects of project life cycle including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling and closing for each assigned project. The following responsibilities represent a partial list of typical functions:
- Advance projects through established milestones, developing and implementing recovery plans for unanticipated delays.
- Assist with Client Capital Program by working with Design and Construction teams on work plans, project prioritization and the assessment of project feasibility and deliverability while supporting and fostering high levels of team performance.
- Collaborate with project team to retain the necessary internal and external resources, including appropriate professional services, to advance the assigned projects to conceptual/preliminary design or final design.
- Conduct / participate in regularly scheduled meetings with the appropriate parties to ensure the project scope, schedule and budget are maintained.
- Establish consistent work plans, budgets, business rules and project development for the successful delivery of Engineering projects.
- Interact with Client staff departments to establish agreements, force accounts and the like in support of project work.
- Prepare project status reports for supervisors, senior and executive staff on a periodic basis.
- Take the lead in establishing project risk parameters and developing the appropriate risk contingency plans.
- Work with Client staff to develop detailed project scope of work based on a statement of problem or a desired outcome. Establish project economics and timeline in conjunction with the appropriate stakeholders.

- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in progressively more responsible positions in the development and delivery of Civil/Structural A/E projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university
- Demonstrated experience in program management, engineering design, and/or construction fields including establishment of plans, setting priorities, and incorporating facility requirements into project plans.
- Demonstrated experience working on large scale projects and/or large capital programs ($500MM+) from a Design and Construction aspects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of capital planning and assessment, procurement, project planning and development, and risk management protocols.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective interpersonal skills to build and manage client relationships, resolve conflict and solve problems to effectively communicate and convey information to various audiences.
- Demonstrate superior customer service, decision-making, and problem solving; and excellent interpersonal skills as this position is client facing.
