Overview
Leidos is in search of a CAD Drafter to join our Substation Section. You will work with engineers, designers and drafters to draft accurate drawing packages for utility power delivery projects using AutoCAD.
LocationThe ideal candidate will be within a commutable distance to Chicago, IL. This role will be a hybrid opportunity, with potential for remote work.
ResponsibilitiesDraft and detail drawing packages for utility power delivery projects using AutoCAD.
Collaborate with engineers and fellow drafters to ensure accuracy and adherence to project standards and markups.
Assist in updating drawings based on engineer-provided markups with high attention to detail.
High school diploma or drafting certificate and 4+ months of drafting and detailing experience with AutoCAD. Coursework and project work will be considered.
Proficiency with manipulation of vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD.
Ability to create or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with strong attention to detail.
Knowledge of file sharing, document management and collaboration tools (Project Wise, FTP, SharePoint, Fusion, Meridian, Autodesk Vault, Workfront, etc.).
Strong verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.
Highly organized, efficient, and detail oriented.
Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced engineering/production environment.
Associate's Degree.
Experience with protection and control and substation physical drawings for electric utility transmission projects.
Ability to comprehend and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
3-D modelling experience in Micro Station, AutoCAD, and/or Inventor.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical.
Knowledge of VBA and/or Auto Lisp.
QA/QC of drawings produced by the drafting team.
Experience creating process improvement policies, tools, and client-specific CAD guides for drafting and engineering teams.
Experience in document control, drawing records management, and IFC issuance (preliminary and final).
