LocationThis opportunity is available at any location in the United States. Ideally, candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. office, but we intend to hire the "best" candidates. This is an on‑site role at our Baton Rouge, LA site location.
About the RoleWe are looking for a wireless telecommunications project lead to work on a variety of projects in data center buildings. In this role you will be involved in the entire design process—from preliminary assessments to final specification production—and will ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
Responsibilities- Preliminary assessments
- Concept creation and leading designs with support from peers, SMEs, and BIM designers
- Internal and external problem resolution
- Drawing and specification production
- Customer and vendor accessibility
- Designing wireless systems in iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner, and other modeling programs
- Coordination with BIM designers to create drawing packages
- Coordination with AHJ’s, Radio System Owners, and Carriers
- DIV 27 specification creation or modification
- Conducting site visits
- Reviewing technical documents
- Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Technical or associate’s degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years’ experience actively designing wireless telecommunications systems, including LMR, Site Radio, RoIP, Public Safety DAS, and Commercial DAS (OTA, Neutral Host, DRAN)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner, or a combination of modeling tools
- Experience working with clients to identify their wireless communication needs
- Experience troubleshooting wireless communication system issues from field teams
- Knowledge of Noise Floor, SNIR, Return Loss, and VSWR
- Experience optimizing networks in design and installation phases
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, NFPA 1225, IFC section 510, Carrier KPI’s, IBC, FCC part 20 and part 90, FCC OET bulletin 65, MOTOTRBO systems, Motorola R56 installation standards, DMR Tier III
- Familiarity with Navisworks
- Excellent project management and budgeting skills, including risk mitigation and schedule maintenance
- Self‑motivation to coordinate across disciplines, project managers, and clients
- iBwave Level 2 Certification required
- Experience designing Wi‑Fi systems
- EDX or Motorola design certifications
- FCC GROL, NICET Design Certification, multiple OEM product certifications
- Electrical or Communication Engineering degree, EIT or PE
