Horner & Shifrin is seeking a full-time Bridge Project Engineer in our Structural Business Unit located in our O’Fallon, MO, O’Fallon, IL, Chicago, IL, Rogers, AR, Marion, IL, or St. Louis, MO office. This position requires 5+ years of experience.

• Follow Bridge Practice production and design standards and procedures as delegated by the Project Manager
• Perform and check structural engineering calculations of bridges, retaining walls and other transportation infrastructure structures using company, client, and industry standards
• Participate in the preparation and checking of structural construction drawings created by teammates to meet firm and client requirements.
• Develop and check cost estimates
• Participate in the preparation of reports and studies

• Licensed Professional Engineer
• Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois (preferred)
• Experience with design and detailing of IDOT or Illinois Tollway bridge projects (firm requirement)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Micro Station
• Knowledge of Structural Bridge Design Software
• Previous bridge inspection experience (preferred)
• Ability to traverse structural sites, including heights and rough terrain
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Must complete a background check

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

Master of Science in Civil Engineering (preferred)
