The Senior Project Delivery (SPDE) role exists to manage the end‑to‑end delivery of site capital projects for our Hellman’s Mayonnaise factory in Chicago. The projects will span a wide range of safety, quality, infrastructure, savings, and equipment improvements across many technologies and functional areas including process, packaging, utilities and land/buildings. The SPDE will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the site investment masterplan and provide technical support to day‑to‑day and reliability activities.
Key Responsibilities- Organized and detail oriented to deliver projects with respect to safety, product quality, project timing, and cost. Supported by full‑time staff and contractors.
- Lead a portion of the capital project portfolio in the site, managing cost estimating, analyzing options, building business cases, critiquing designs, managing construction, installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Lead improvement projects in a fast‑moving environment with many stakeholders, making independent decisions, collaborating constructively, managing expectations, and navigating tradeoffs.
- Act as a site expert on food processing, packaging, and energy and utilities management.
- Lead the standardization and development of the plant masterplan for packaging, process, grounds, and utilities.
- Provide technical resource to the category engineering team for new products and re‑stages, and support factory continuous improvement programs.
- Participate in cross‑plant improvement teams and develop strong partnerships with plant manufacturing, continuous improvement, corporate engineering, and union workforce.
- Support root‑cause analysis for both manufacturing and reliability teams.
- Bring new Ways of Working to the Engineering community and drive transformation.
- Deliver multiple capital projects on time and in full (OTIF) with typical values $100k–$2M, adhering to Unilever project management standards and ensuring safety as the top priority.
- Education:
BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree. - 3+ years of Engineering experience in FMCG or related industry or in an engineering consultancy.
- End‑to‑end project management/engineering, maintenance, or continuous improvement experience with food processing and/or utilities systems in manufacturing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to negotiate.
- First‑hand experience delivering major capital projects ($2+ million) within an FMCG environment.
- 5+ years of Project Engineering experience in FMCG or related industry or in an engineering consultancy.
The pay range for this position is $86,080 to $129,120.
