Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in buildings. This technical position involves project execution and mentoring of less experienced engineers.
Work EnvironmentYou will be a key part of a Building Structures focused team and report to the discipline Director(s). The location for the selected candidate is flexible; preferred locations include Chicago, St. Louis, Columbus, Atlanta, Dallas, and Bedminster. Additional locations may be discussed with qualified candidates.
Responsibilities- Assist less experienced staff with all aspects of design, drawing development, and construction administration.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and quality control procedures.
- Self‑perform and/or assist others in performing the required work at any stage of a project from schematic design through construction administration.
- Execute calculations, sketches, drawing production, specifications, and multi‑discipline coordination on a regular basis.
- Conduct observations of and evaluate existing conditions in the field and via existing historical drawings.
- Work on multiple projects concurrently, coordinating with multiple EXP offices and outside consultants.
- Occasional short-term travel to project sites, usually a single night or two at a time.
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering strongly preferred;
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structures is minimum. - 12+ years of experience focusing on building design.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as RAM, RISA, ETABS.
- Adequate Revit skills, including navigation, modeling, and sheet creation.
- Licensure as a Structural Engineer with a structural specific examination (Structural I/II, Structural Gravity/Lateral) required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to write persuasively and explain technical subjects to a less technical audience.
The base pay range for this role is $120,000 to $140,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may differ in other locations due to differences in cost of labor.
