Job DescriptionThe NVH Propulsion Performance Engineer will lead NVH activities on propulsion systems and ensure NVH assessments are conducted at each program gate, engaging release teams to implement NVH enablers into the final design. Responsibilities include supporting integration of the propulsion system into the vehicle, achieving NVH vehicle targets, preparing presentations for management reviews, managing value‑optimization activities while maintaining intended NVH character, acting as liaison between Propulsion System and Vehicle organizations, and overseeing process improvement actions to enhance operational and economic efficiencies.
- Lead NVH activities on propulsion systems (conventional and/or electrified) for all responsible programs.
- Ensure NVH assessments are conducted at each program gate and engage release teams to implement NVH enablers into the final design.
- Support NVH activities to integrate the propulsion system into the vehicle and achieve NVH vehicle targets.
- Prepare and present clear and concise presentations for management reviews.
- Manage value optimization activities of propulsion systems while maintaining intended NVH character at product/vehicle level.
- Act as liaison between the Propulsion System organization and Vehicle organization regarding NVH attributes on a system level.
- Oversee process improvement actions in the organization to improve operational and economic efficiencies.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- 8 years of NVH engineering experience.
- Fundamental understanding of propulsion and vehicle system NV.
- Hands‑on automotive experience in propulsion systems NVH, including conventional and hybrid ICE, electric motors, gearboxes, and power inverter modules.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Proficient in NVH measurements and tools such as LMS Test.
Lab, HEAD Acoustics Artemis, Rotec, Mueller BBM, Matlab, and Simulink. - Experience with sound‐pressure measurement for propulsion systems per SAE J1074, sound‐intensity and sound‑power measurements per ISO 3744 & 3745, vehicle interior noise measurements per SAE J336, and sound‑quality measurements and analysis.
- NVH root‑cause analysis using transfer path, modal, and angle domain analysis.
- Proven record of solving technical problems in propulsion system NVH (conventional and hybrid ICE, electric motors, gearboxes, and power inverter modules).
- Working knowledge of digital signal processing (FFT) and ability to work with ECMs and CAN communication protocols.
- Master of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Prior experience leading product development at automotive OEM.
