The MCF (Mission Critical Facilities) Engineer performs technical duties under the supervision of a Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer. Understands and identifies project requirements and performs independent technical work within one’s own discipline. Provides guidance to Designers on completion of duties. The data center industry is continually evolving, and this is an ideal opportunity for candidates who enjoy working on technically challenging projects that require cutting edge designs.
Aside from the preferred locations listed, this position is open to any location with a Stantec office presence, for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop basic system designs within own discipline under supervision of a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer.
- Delegate tasks to project designers as appropriate.
- Work in conjunction with the project team to prepare project deliverables per the client’s intent and scope of work outlined in the proposal.
- Coordinate well with all disciplines to fully integrate work and client requests into design.
- Follow quality management process; review project deliverables prior to submission to QA/AC reviewer.
- Assist with reviews of shop drawings and submittals, RFI responses, site observation reports and punch lists, attend project coordination meetings, and perform other CA tasks.
- Actively participate in the engineering/Professional community to build personal knowledge and professional growth (e.g. attend meetings / seminars / conferences).
- Assist the Project Engineer on project related tasks.
- Meet or exceed utilization goals and adhere to project budget.
- Possess knowledge of engineering practices within own discipline.
- Knowledge of commonly used and accepted design and construction concepts, practices, procedures, codes, and standards.
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and specifications, technical procedures, and government regulations.
- Proficient in applicable software (i.e. AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360, Trace 700). Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g. Pipe-Flo) and CFD software (e.g. Fluent, 6
Sigma) preferred. - Exhibits strong communication skills to confidently interact and communicate scope and coordinate tasks with vendors and inter‑discipline co‑workers.
- Displays effective organization and time management skills with projects, reports and other duties; effectively manages multiple priorities and is punctual and dependable.
- Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum 3 years related industry experience.
- Registered professional engineer (PE), Fundamentals of engineering (FE) / engineer in training (EIT) or other professional certification (PE) based on area of expertise preferred.
- Datacenter experience preferred but not required.
