HDR is currently seeking a Mechanical Intern for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Chicago, Illinois. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. This person will be initially focused on supporting our staff in the design of facility related projects in support of the Data Center market, with future opportunity to explore a variety of markets including Corporate/Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Municipal, Civic, Industrial, and Sports & Recreation buildings and infrastructure.
They will have the opportunity to learn, coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration, and get to meet a variety of fellow interns.
Coursework experience in building related mechanical engineering is preferred. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn!
In the role of Mechanical Intern, we'll count on you to:

* Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
* Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
* Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
* Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0 GPA
* Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
* Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
* Attention to detail
* Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
* Basic Microsoft Office skills
