Our client is a well-established engineering firm known for its excellence in transportation infrastructure. They are currently looking to add a Structural Bridge Engineer with an SE license to their team, specifically someone with a strong background in bridge design. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with a collaborative team working on major public-sector projects.
Position Summary:
This role is focused on bridge designfrom concept development through final design and construction documentation. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with structural analysis, plan development, and code compliance, and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and analysis of new and rehabilitated bridge structures (highway, rail, pedestrian)
Prepare engineering calculations, design drawings, and technical specifications
Conduct load ratings and prepare reports in accordance with DOT and AASHTO standards
Collaborate with CAD technicians to ensure design intent is properly captured in drawings
Coordinate with civil engineering, geotechnical, and project management teams
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and guidelines including AASHTO LRFD
Support quality control reviews and mentor junior engineers as needed
Qualifications:
Active SE license required (or ability to obtain in [state] within 6 months)
Bachelor's in Civil or Structural Engineering (Masters preferred)
6+ years of progressive bridge design experience
Proficiency in structural analysis tools such as SAP
2000, CSiBridge, LARSA, or MIDAS
Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Micro Station; BIM experience is a plus
Solid understanding of state DOT processes and requirements
Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with design-build projects or alternative delivery methods
Strong written and verbal communication skills
