Mechanical Engineer - HVAC & Plumbing Systems

Location: Local to the Chicago area required
Compensation: Up to $110,000 base + full benefits
Position Type: Full-Time

An established mechanical contractor is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to support ongoing commercial and industrial projects. This role involves full-scope design and technical coordination for HVAC and plumbing systems. Ideal for someone with strong design skills, practical construction knowledge, and the ability to support multiple active projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and document HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial applications
• Review and verify drawings, specifications, and technical calculations
• Collaborate with internal teams across project management and field operations
• Participate in code reviews, permitting, and design coordination
• Provide technical support through all project phases

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience (HVAC & plumbing focus)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
• Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design software
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Must be based in the Chicago area or willing to commute regularly
