The position is a self - directed technical expert that will be providing technical direction and providing feedback based on emergent outage situations and power system needs. Provide analytical support and provide recommendations to the Company (other business units and/or customers) as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, or facilities. The position will also perform oversight and governance for specific critical facilities.
Support contingency planning and facilitate lessons learned protocol. Support project and regional customer council meetings and develop recommended improvements around reliability. Facilitate yearly reviews of this process to drive continuous improvements.
Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies
Primary Duties- Performs engineering assignments while exercising independent discretion under the guidance of an experienced engineer. (e.g. Collect data, perform complex analysis, interpret results, draw conclusions, and clearly present a recommendation to management)
- Performs engineering tasks associated with large projects or a number of small projects. (e.g. Analyze and interpret the results of complex power flows and perform complex engineering tests, and analyze non-specific and ambiguous results)
- May direct the engineering tasks associated with a large project or a number of small projects (e.g. Verify and validate studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices. Design high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria)
- Participates on teams and may lead teams.
- Provide Technical support on the transmission and Distribution system as required. This may include evaluating testing as requested to determine the acceptance of electrical system components (such as cables, transformers, cap banks regulators, etc.).
- Providing technical guidance to regarding the set-up and proper operation of the Com Ed emergency generators.
- Providing engineering recommendations determining industrial and commercial power quality situations, performing sound evaluations, responding to EMF concerns, addressing operational impacts of the distribution power system (or customer systems) and then performing evaluations from the information obtained from the afore mentioned activities to formulate recommendations based on the data evaluation to provide to the appropriate engineering organizations to rectify any Com Ed caused situations
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
- 2 - 4 years of professional engineering experience
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.
- Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.
- General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform assignments for a specific discipline, various installations, or services
- Engineer in Training License
- Strong written and oral communication/presentation skills, report generation & technical writing skills
- Interpersonal skills & the ability to collaborate with peers and managers
- Consulting and needs assessment skills
- Time, project management and multi-tasking skills
- Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $84,800.00/Yr. – $/Yr.
