Project Manager, Operations Manager

Overview

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Project Manager to support a company focused on HVAC and mechanical construction projects throughout the greater Chicago region. This position is remote with occasional travel support throughout Chicago, IL as needed (less than 10%). This is a direct-hire opportunity. The Project Manager will lead major HVAC/mechanical construction projects while managing critical vendor and stakeholder relationships.

Your work will directly strengthen the infrastructure that keeps large-scale public and institutional facilities running safely and efficiently.

• Overseeing one large HVAC/mechanical project (≈$30M) along with smaller ad-hoc projects as needed.
• Managing and strengthening vendor relationships, particularly within the Chicago market.
• Coordinating across engineering, construction, and sales teams to support RFI responses and future project planning.
• Communicating on behalf of technical stakeholders such as construction managers and mechanical engineers.
• Supporting site activities as needed with occasional travel around the Chicago region.

• 5+ years of experience with project management, specifically within HVAC or mechanical services.
• Experience leading construction projects involving HVAC equipment such as air handler replacements, central plants, and large-scale mechanical systems.
• Strong vendor-management skills and ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams in engineering, construction, and sales.
• Construction background, with the ability to oversee multimillion-dollar projects.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

• Salary Range: $160,000–$180,000 depending on experience
