Job Description Drug Substance Engineering Internship OverviewEnvision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for Abb Vie Interns.
Micronization of drug substance is a critical process in API manufacturing for ensuring downstream critical quality attributes. Micronization processes such as pin milling and jet milling leverage feed rate control to optimize the process performance, and while feed rate is well understood for many powder systems there is a gap in understanding the feed rate control of poorly flowing materials in micronization techniques.
The Drug Substance Engineering Intern within Product Development, Science, and Technology (PDS&T) will help establish a systematic approach to understand how the physical properties of powder systems impact their feeding performance in micronization processes.
Key responsibilities include:- Experimental studies to understand and characterize powder properties
- Evaluate performance of micronization techniques (i.e. jet mill, pin mill) with various feed mechanisms
- Analyze data and trends to identify signatures for process performance
- Develop and verify computational models
- Summarize and present findings in departmental and cross-functional settings
Minimum Qualifications
