We are hiring three Taxpayer Account Processing Agent 1s - Spanish Speaking (Revenue Tax Specialist 1 - Spanish Speaking) for our Chicago Operations Division to be assigned to any one of our five work locations: 555 W.

Monroe, 125 W. Monroe, 5401 N. Elston, 5301 W. Lexington, or 9901 S. King Dr. This position is responsible for providing customer service to taxpayers, including answering tax questions, computing tax amounts, assisting in the completion of tax filing forms, and accepting payments from taxpayers. If you are fluent in writing and speaking both English and Spanish and have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, then we want you!

Essential Functions
  • Under general supervision, performs technical analysis of routine and involved original and amended tax returns.
  • Performs research necessary for resolution of discrepancies or deficiencies.
  • Reconciles receipts and dispatches cash, checks, and documents via prescribed methods.
  • Corresponds and/or confers with taxpayers and their representatives (via both oral and written communication in English and Spanish) regarding account status, laws administered by the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR), additional documentation or forms needed to resolve discrepancies, balances owed, etc.
  • Receives progressively more difficult on-the-job training and applies this training as warranted.
  • Recommends approval and denial of claims for credit.
  • Maintains a variety of production records and inventory reports.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires successful completion of the Revenue Tax Specialist Trainee program, which entails 12 months of agency training, and either: knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college; OR four years of work experience providing tax related support…
