About this Role

The E-CAP Fund Director will lead the Equity Capital Pool (“E-CAP” or the “Fund”), a $100 million targeted fund designed to provide equity‑like resources to developers focused on mixed‑use and commercial real estate projects in low‑and moderate‑income communities in the Chicagoland area. The Director will serve as a public representative of E‑CAP Fund One and manage its overarching strategy, execution, and relationships with stakeholders.

The role includes liaising with the CCLF President, Board, and an external sub‑advisor/Fund Administrator. The position involves collaborating with key partners to finalize fund formation, support fundraising efforts, and oversee all aspects of fund operations, investment strategy, investor relations, and impact measurement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Fund in pursuit of its mission and goals.
  • Serve as public representative of E‑CAP Fund One.
  • Collaborate to finalize fund formation and set up the programmatic structure.
  • Participate in fundraising and capital raise efforts.
  • Develop Investment Policy Statement with eligibility, criteria, and procedural guidelines.
  • Execute legal documents and coordinate fund distribution.
  • Oversee work of third‑party Fund Administrator.
  • Provide technical guidance to real estate developers throughout the investment cycle.
  • Manage the 5‑member E‑CAP Investment Committee and investor relations.
  • Develop marketing and strategic communications materials.
  • Establish a system for impact measurement and learnings.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5-10 years of real estate equity investment experience.
  • Experience in real estate investment management, acquisitions, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with Chicago or the Chicago area and experience working in low- to moderate-income communities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, negotiation, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Equity fund administration experience is preferred.
