This is an office‑based position. For the effective performance of this role, duties and responsibilities must be carried out onsite.
Key Responsibilities- Accept, approve, and process transactions for clients within specified limits.
- Assist other tellers with the processing of complex transactions and resolve out‑of‑balance or problem transactions.
- Approve transactions referred by the tellers within specified limits.
- Receive deposits for credit to client accounts, cash checks, process savings deposits or withdrawals, receive loan or tax payments, and issue money orders, cashier checks, and traveler’s checks.
- Balance, input, and settle daily sales of traveler’s cheques. Input daily transmission of savings bond purchases into Fedline. Prepare large currency transaction reports.
- Balance the cash transactions for the unit including the cash drawer.
- Conduct teller audits and perform research to resolve problem situations.
- Identify fraudulent transactions, forgeries, and counterfeit bills according to established procedures.
- Assist clients with non‑standard inquiries regarding the status of their accounts.
- Communicate regularly with personal bankers, personal banking investigators, and partners in various areas of the bank to process transactions, refer new business, request account or product information, and investigate fraudulent transactions.
- Monitor, conduct research, and balance contra accounts. Investigate and collect charge‑backs on accounts.
- Respond to client needs and cross‑sell the bank’s products and services.
- 2–3 years of teller experience.
- Knowledge of teller operations usually acquired through high school level business courses and prior teller experience is required to process complex transactions.
- Math skills are needed to balance the cash drawer.
- Personal computer skills and 10‑key adding machine skills are needed to enter and record transactions.
$48,000 – 72,000 USD. Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay.
