Client

Portfolio Manager Overview

Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Fixed Income team is hiring a Client Portfolio Manager in Chicago. This CPM will be the commercial catalyst for our fixed income platform – converting investment insight into tangible client outcomes and scalable asset growth. As the portfolio's client‑facing voice, the CPM will translate strategy, risk, and performance into compelling, actionable narratives that win, retain, and expand mandates.

This person is expected to uphold IPS discipline and deliver flawless execution, while coordinating portfolio managers, trading, product, operations, and distribution to scale solutions, deepen relationships, and drive net flows.

Responsibilities
  • Servicing existing client base, regular client engagement and initiating and driving new business initiatives, working within a global team structure
  • Drive new business opportunities, liaising with product development and sales, completion of request‑for‑proposal documentation in addition to providing broad support to Sales and Client Relationship Management teams
  • Synthesize and communicate investment philosophy, process, product positioning and current market trends to current and prospective clients
  • Collaborate with clients on topics including asset allocation, investment guidelines, risk budgeting, and portfolio optimization
  • Partner with distribution and operational teams within the organization to optimize client experience and portfolio management
Experience
  • 7+ years of work experience in Fixed Income, facing off with Clients in Client Portfolio Management capacity
  • Strong knowledge of buy‑side fixed income portfolio management
  • Client‑facing experience is a must
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and excellent follow‑through
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal skills:
    Ability to build trust and confidence of colleagues, strengthen relationships through ongoing dialog and interactions, and collaborate with broad range of stakeholders
  • Experience working within a fast‑paced environment collaborating across time‑zones
  • Willingness and ability to undertake international and domestic travel
  • Strong skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Bloomberg
Salary Range

The expected base salary for this Chicago, Illinois, United States‑based position is $100,000 - $230,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year‑end.
