Role OverviewThe Senior Operational Risk Analyst will play a key role in supporting the firm’s enterprise Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework. This individual will partner closely with business leaders, risk and control owners, compliance, internal audit, and technology teams to identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate operational risks across the organization.
The role is well-suited for a risk professional with strong analytical skills, regulatory awareness, and experience operating in a complex, highly regulated financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support the execution and continuous enhancement of the firm’s Operational Risk Management framework, policies, and standards
- Assist in the identification, assessment, and documentation of key operational risks across business units and corporate functions
- Ensure alignment with enterprise risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices
- Lead or support Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), including risk identification, control evaluation, and issue remediation tracking
- Assess the design and operating effectiveness of controls and challenge business‑owned risk assessments where appropriate
- Partner with stakeholders to drive timely remediation of control gaps and operational risk issues Oversee operational risk issues, action plans, and key risk indicators (KRIs), ensuring appropriate escalation and reporting
- Support operational loss event identification, root cause analysis, and thematic trend analysis
- Prepare materials for risk committees, senior management, and regulators
- Develop and maintain risk dashboards, metrics, and reporting for senior leadership and governance forums
- Analyze risk data to identify emerging risks, trends, and areas of heightened exposure
- Contribute to scenario analysis and stress testing related to operational risk events
- Act as a trusted risk partner to business units, providing guidance on risk identification, control design, and regulatory expectations
- Coordinate with Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, and Technology teams on risk-related initiatives
- Support regulatory exams, audits, and internal reviews related to operational risk
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Business, or a related field
- 4+ years of experience in operational risk management, enterprise risk, internal audit, compliance, or related functions within financial services
- Strong understanding of operational risk concepts, RCSAs, KRIs, issue management, and risk governance
- Familiarity with regulatory expectations (e.g., OCC, Federal Reserve, SEC, FINRA, or equivalent, depending on firm type)
- Experience working in a large, matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Risk Management)
- Professional certifications such as FRM, CRCM, CPA, CIA, or similar
- Experience with GRC platforms (e.g., Archer, Service Now, Metric Stream)
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to challenge constructively and influence without direct authority
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to see broader enterprise‑level risk themes
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, regulated environment
