This position is well suited for an associate with strong commercial real estate finance experience who is eager to take ownership of transactions and contribute to a growing practice.
The practice represents a wide range of commercial real estate lenders, including banks, insurance companies, mortgage REITs, debt funds, and other institutional and alternative capital providers. Attorneys regularly advise on loan originations and financings across all major asset classes, including office, retail, multifamily, industrial, mixed-use developments, hospitality and resort properties, storage facilities, manufactured housing communities, and single-family rental portfolios.
Associates in this group are deeply involved in transactions from inception through closing and post-closing, working closely with partners and clients to structure, negotiate, and execute complex financings. The team is known for its practical, problem-solving approach and regularly collaborates with colleagues in tax, capital markets, bankruptcy and restructuring, environmental, litigation, and corporate practices to support clients on complex and distressed matters.
Responsibilities:
- Advise lenders on complex commercial real estate finance transactions.
- Handle loan originations, including mezzanine loans and preferred equity investments.
- Draft and negotiate loan documents and manage transactions through closing and post-closing.
- Support asset management, workout matters, and secondary market and repurchase facility work.
- Work closely with partners and colleagues across offices on national transactions.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in commercial real estate finance.
- Experience drafting primary loan documents and running lender-side transactions.
- Strong academic background and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage complex matters efficiently and independently.
- Admission to the Illinois Bar required.
- Competitive base salary, expected to range from $260,000 to $340,000, depending on experience.
- Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage.
- 401(k) plan with employer contributions.
- Generous paid time off and firm-recognized holidays.
- Exposure to nationally recognized real estate finance work involving billions in loan originations across all 50 states.
- Opportunity to work within a collaborative, national platform that supports professional development, mentorship, and long-term career growth.
- Collegial, inclusive culture focused on high-quality work and sustainable career progression.
