Box's Tax team is growing, and we're looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to own our indirect tax function. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert for sales and use tax across Box's US and global operations — ensuring compliance, driving process improvements, and partnering cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and Revenue Operations to support the business as it scales.
You will work in a collaborative, high-impact environment where your expertise directly shapes how Box manages its indirect tax obligations. This is an opportunity to bring both technical depth and strategic thinking to a team that values accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Manage end-to-end sales and use tax compliance, including preparation, review, and timely filing of returns across all applicable US jurisdictions.
- Research and analyze indirect tax issues, including nexus determinations, taxability of products and services, and exemption certificate management.
- Partner with Revenue Operations and Billing to ensure accurate tax calculation and collection within Box's billing systems and CPQ tools.
- Support indirect tax audits by preparing documentation, responding to notices, and coordinating with external advisors as needed.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in sales and use tax law and assess their impact on Box's business operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including Legal, Finance, and Product — to advise on indirect tax implications of new products, business initiatives, and go-to-market strategies.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy across the indirect tax compliance cycle.
We are an AI-first company. This means you approach your work with a growth mindset and find ways to leverage AI to help make faster, smarter decisions that will 10X your impact at Box.
- You have 4+ years of experience in indirect tax, with a focus on US sales and use tax compliance, ideally including experience with software or SaaS sales tax implications;
Big Four or public company experience is a plus, though not required. - You have hands-on experience with tax technology platforms such as Avalara, Vertex, or similar automated tax calculation tools.
