You will also support tax planning for development projects seeking board approval and for projects moving from development into construction and operations.

You will resolve complex tax matters, review the work of more junior team members, and serve as a trusted point of contact for business partners and external advisors. As our U.S. business grows, this role offers significant exposure to complex transactions and the opportunity to add real value to our portfolio.

Role Responsibilities
  • Analyze the tax implications of joint venture partnerships, tax equity structures, and tax credit transfer transactions, and communicate findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders
  • Structure and execute transactions under Sections 45, 48, 45Y, and 48E, including analysis of credit eligibility, bonus credit adders (domestic content, energy communities), and applicable credit phase-out and termination rules, escalating the most complex matters to senior tax leadership
  • Perform beginning-of-construction analysis and documentation, and track project milestones and continuity requirements
  • Assess compliance with prohibited foreign entity (FEOC) restrictions, including effective control and material assistance
  • Build and use tax models to assess the impact of tax law changes and transactions, and partner with Structured Finance and Investment and Valuation teams on detailed financial and tax modeling to optimize projects and solve for constraints
  • Review and challenge inputs from internal and external experts to long-term project projections
  • Prepare technical memos and internal documentation that support tax positions and transaction structures
  • Work cross-functionally with finance, legal, procurement, and operations to align tax planning and compliance with business goals
  • Serve as a point of contact for external consultants and counsel on significant tax matters, with oversight from senior tax leadership
  • Assist in long-term federal and state tax planning
  • Monitor federal and state legislative and regulatory developments and assess potential impacts on the business
  • Review the work of associates and senior associates to ensure technical accuracy, and provide mentorship and training to junior staff
Job Requirements and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of tax experience, including experience with partnerships and/or tax credit investments (required)
  • Advanced knowledge of tax law with experience managing work streams for complex tax matters (required)
  • Experience with corporate and partnership income tax (required)
  • Strong technical writing skills, including preparing tax memos and internal documentation (required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel (required)
  • Strong analytical, modeling, and communication skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple work streams in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience with tax equity, tax credit transfers, or renewable energy tax credits (Sections 45, 48, 45Y, 48E)
  • Familiarity with FEOC/prohibited foreign entity rules and beginning-of-construction guidance
  • Experience reviewing the work of, and mentoring, junior tax professionals
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS income tax accounting (tax provision)
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and/or other tax consulting roles
  • CPA, Master’s in Taxation, or JD/LLM
  • Exposure to non-income taxes
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
