About Infinity ConstellationProfessional services firms have historically grown by adding headcount: more analysts, associates, and support staff to serve more clients. Infinity Constellation is built on a different thesis. A small team, led by an outstanding credentialed practitioner and paired with an AI backbone that handles everything else, can now do what used to take dozens of people.
We are building independent, high-margin business units (BUs) inside a single company. Each unit is built around one or two core people and supported by Infinity's technology platform and our engineering and product teams, which take over HR, accounting, finance, and data-processing work. The practitioner keeps selling the same service, to the same buyers, at the same or better quality, but serves far more clients per person.
Pension and retirement plan actuarial work is one of our three founding verticals.
The RoleWe are looking for a Managing Director to found and lead Infinity's Pension & Retirement Plan Actuarial business unit. You will be the credentialed actuary whose sign-off stands behind the work, and the leader who builds the client base and defines the offering. You will build a practice that carries far more plans per person than a traditional actuarial shop, with Infinity building the tools that take over the analytical labor.
This is an entrepreneurial role with real upside: you shape the service offering, the team, and the tooling roadmap, and you share directly in the value you create.
About the PracticePension and retirement plan actuarial work covers the calculations and filings that keep employer retirement plans funded, compliant, and properly accounted for: funding valuations, accounting disclosures, and regulatory reporting. All of it ultimately requires a credentialed actuary's sign-off.
The market ranges from large, fully integrated providers that bundle actuarial consulting with recordkeeping, participant payouts, and investment management, to boutique regional firms doing $10-30M a year in revenue that few outside the industry have heard of. In most organizations, much of the underlying analysis is already performed by non-credentialed analysts using proprietary or third-party calculation software, with the actuary reviewing and signing off.
That split between credentialed judgment and analytical labor is exactly what Infinity's AI backbone is built to take over.
The work is regulatory and recurring: plans need annual valuations and filings regardless of the broader economy.
What You Will Do- - Lead the business unit:
Run the Pension & Retirement Plan Actuarial BU end to end, including strategy, client relationships, quality, and financial performance. - - Provide actuarial sign-off:
Serve as the credentialed actuary of record, with sign-off authority on funding valuations and related work. - - Originate and grow the client base:
Bring a portable book of business, or build one quickly through your credibility and relationships. - - Define the offering:
Decide how narrow or wide to build the service, from purely actuarial consulting to something closer to the bundled model larger competitors offer. We expect you to have a strong opinion. - - Decide what moves first:
Identify which parts of the work (data preparation, funding and accounting reports, form completion) should move to an AI-driven workflow first. - - Validate the calculation engine:
Work with Infinity's engineering team on the approach to calculations. Near term, we expect to run existing third-party actuarial software in parallel with an Infinity-built alternative, validating that outputs match, and to retire the third-party tool once we trust our own. - - Build the team:
Hire and develop analysts and supporting staff as the book grows, keeping the team deliberately lean. - - Collaborate across Infinity:
Partner with other business unit leaders on cross-selling to shared clients as the portfolio grows.
- - Credential:
An Enrolled Actuary, or actuarial team lead holding the credentials required to sign funding valuations. - - Pension and retirement plan experience:
Deep experience with funding valuations, accounting disclosures, and regulatory reporting for employer-sponsored plans. - - A portable book of business:
Existing client relationships that will follow you, or the credibility to build a client base quickly. - - Senior practitioner or already independent:
