The Assistant Stylist is a temporary role designed to develop future senior stylists. You’ll consult with guests on their hair care needs, recommend services and products, and perform basic hair treatments. Under mentorship for the first three months, you’ll meet sales and productivity goals, learn procedures, and gradually take on independent services from month four onward. The role demands passion for beauty, exceptional guest service, and a readiness to grow technical skills.

• Deliver outstanding guest service and help meet or exceed store sales, service, and loyalty goals.
• Support a mentor Stylist in meeting sales and productivity targets by
  • Proposing add‑on recommendations.
  • Executing shampoo, treatment, blowout, styling, and color applications (including foil work).
  • Maintaining sanitation, organization, and inventory.
  • Pre‑booking future appointments and providing retail recommendations.
• After three months, perform full hair services: cutting, coloring, texturing, styling, up‑dos, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Conduct product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
• Assist in in‑store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed on industry trends, product benefits, and ingredients to provide knowledgeable service.
• Maintain punctual attendance.

• Build strong guest relationships through personalized consultations.
• Serve all guests efficiently under mentorship.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail staff for a holistic guest experience.
• Promote the customer loyalty program, Ulta App, and credit options.
• Adhere to Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols.
• Use booking and clientele systems to schedule returns and events.
• Communicate supply needs and maintain operational cleanliness.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for continuous development.
• Follow the dress code and loss‑prevention practices.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

• Cosmetology license.

• Basic proficiency in current salon techniques across haircutting, coloring, styling, treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing.
• Understanding of equipment and chemicals used in salon services.
• Ability to recommend and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication and customer‑relationship skills.
• Capable of independent work and teamwork.

• Work flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Frequent mobility, bending, reaching, and twisting.
• Periodic lifting up to 10 lbs.
• Long periods standing.
• Continuous use of computer, phone, and salon supplies.

Hourly pay range: $16.20 – $19.00, with potential overtime and tips. Full‑time employees receive paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. Part‑time employees receive dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
