Impact Advisors is seeking an experienced Professional Billing Medical Coder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and accurately assigning CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services. This position ensures coding accuracy, regulatory compliance, and optimal reimbursement. It involves evaluating coding quality, identifying trends or discrepancies, and collaborating with clinicians and revenue cycle teams to improve documentation practices.
The coder will code claims in accordance with CMS guidelines, track and escalate coding issues as needed, and meet daily productivity and timeliness goals to ensure claims are released within filing deadlines.
- Review patient medical records to identify appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services.
- Assign and sequence codes according to industry-standard coding guidelines (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS).
- Ensure coding accuracy to support correct billing and minimize claim denials or delays.
- Work closely with providers to clarify documentation and ensure coding accuracy.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory changes.
- Conduct audits and quality checks to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Use electronic health records (EHR) and coding software to code services and enter data.
- Participate in coding education and training as needed.
- Follow HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines regarding patient health information.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in health information management or related field preferred. - Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent credential required.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of medical coding experience in an outpatient, inpatient, or specialty setting.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficient with EHR and coding software (e.g., 3M, Encoder Pro, Epic, Cerner).
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Work Schedule:
Remote-friendly with flexible scheduling based on project requirements. - This position is a non-exempt hourly position; additional benefits and perks may be available, depending on the position and employment terms.
