General Description

The Intensive Placement Stabilization (IPS) Therapeutic Case Aid provides short‑term supportive assistance alongside IPS Therapists in carrying out the delivery of program services to youth in care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates agency clinical philosophy in all aspects of program activities.
  • Provides therapeutic mentoring, respite, or interim support to youth and caregivers.
  • Serves as a case aide to the IPS program and performs duties that support the youth in the program, such as providing transportation and therapeutic respite.
  • Attends trainings related to youth's needs and uses appropriate therapeutic respite techniques based on this training; may include training in developmental trauma, developmental delays, and disabilities, as well as training on the Attachment, Regulation, Competency (ARC) Framework.
  • Provides transportation for youth to and from home, school, activities, and/or services as outlined.
  • With the collaboration of the IPS Therapist, assists with securing service referrals for families.
  • Completes timely and accurate documentation of services provided through progress notes.
  • Completes other duties assigned by the IPS Manager.
  • Plans out and arranges activities for youth in the community, as determined by the caregiver and IPS Therapist.
  • Works toward goals as specified in the Respite Plan, if applicable.

Work Environment

This employee operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to visit families in their homes and operate a motor vehicle.

Expected Hours of Work

Work schedules are based on the needs of the children, youth, and families served by the agency and often include nights and weekends. The Therapeutic Case Aide must be available for weekend and evening hours. The case aide is full‑time at 32 hours per week.

Schedule:

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 11 a.m.–7 p.m.;
Saturday 9 a.m.–5 p.m. (schedule may change with client needs). A work week is defined as Sunday to Saturday.

Travel

The Therapeutic Case Aide may travel throughout the Chicagoland area as required to meet the needs of assigned families and to participate in professional development activities.

Educational Requirements/General Qualifications

Minimum Degree: BS/BA. Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related social service field.

Minimum Experience:

At least 1 year of social service or related experience preferred. Licensure: N/A. IT Skill:
Microsoft Office proficiency.

Other Requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and time management skills.
  • Full‑time use of a minimally insured operating automobile and a valid driver’s license, as needed.
  • Completion of background checks that include criminal, education, and motor vehicle records.

Salary: $27 per hour.
