Speech and Language Pathologist
Position Purpose

The Speech Pathologist is responsible for diagnosing and treating communication in students. This includes speech, language, voice, fluency, and social communication difficulties. The SLP works collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and implement effective intervention strategies to support students' academic and social success.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech, language, and communication disorders.
  • Utilize standardized tests, observational techniques, and other assessment tools.
  • Diagnose and document the nature and extent of impairments.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results.
  • Provide direct therapy to students individually or in small groups.
  • Use evidence-based practices to address articulation, fluency, voice, language, and social communication deficits.
  • Monitor and adjust interventions to ensure effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and other school staff to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom setting.
  • Provide training and resources to teachers and parents to support speech and language development.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing expert input on students' needs and progress.
  • Maintain detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation.
  • Prepare and present reports for IEP meetings and other professional consultations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and school policies.
  • Support the development of a positive, inclusive environment that encourages all students to achieve their full potential.
  • Provide resources and referrals for families seeking additional support.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid state license and/or certification in speech-language pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, speech and language disorders, and intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
