The Assistant Tech Imaging supports technologists, nurses, physicians and other health professionals in Imaging Services. This role is pivotal in coordinating patient flow in the imaging departments. Duties may include setting up exam rooms before patient arrival, verifying paperwork and physician orders, escorting patients, assisting the technologists/physicians in exam procedures, and processing films and paperwork.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Cares for the patient throughout the treatment/procedure according to department and hospital standards of care.
- Prepares procedure rooms for patients prior to arrival.
- Assists patient preparation for exam, explains exams and answers basic questions, and addresses clinical questions to staff.
- Follows directions of technologist/nurse during exam procedures.
- Processes CDs and assists with lifting and escorting patients.
- Coordinates patient care based on departmental imaging protocols and communicates with clinical staff.
- Reconciles physician orders to correct exam protocol and escalates discrepancies.
- Prepares all necessary paperwork for treatment.
- Retrieves physician orders from systems such as EPIC, Chartview, Power chart.
- Verifies patient demographic information for accuracy.
- Monitors schedule to ensure effective patient flow and informs stakeholders of delays.
- Obtains required paperwork and handles outside films.
- Reports issues to supervisors.
- Uses scheduling system, Radnet and PACS proficiently and monitors supplies.
- Maintains and documents safety checklists for equipment.
- Follows policies and procedures to improve department efficiency.
- Organizes and prioritizes assigned work, schedules time accordingly.
- Provides clerical/technical support as needed.
- High School Diploma.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates computer skills.
- CPR Certification (BLS).
- Physical Demands: lift/carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull force up to 50 pounds.
- Previous experience in a healthcare delivery position.
- Bilingual language skills.
