Ophthalmic Photographer – Full‑time Days

Location:

Northwestern Memorial Hospital

Salary range: $25.98 – $37.68 per hour. Placement within the range depends on relevant experience and internal equity. Union positions follow the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The Ophthalmic Photographer reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, complies with all ethical and compliance programs, and adheres to regulatory and accreditation standards. The role provides technical support to physicians and subspecialists in the Department of Ophthalmology, performing angiographic and photographic tests, interacting with patients under supervision, and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Meeting performance and documentation requirements per physician expectations and special testing.
  • Preferred knowledge of ophthalmic imaging (color fundus photos, OCT, fluorescein angiogram, slit lamp photo).
  • Room preparation, equipment maintenance, laboratory stock management, and cleaning.
  • Ordering of supplies, medications, and ocular instruments.
  • Acts as part of the patient care team, promoting satisfaction through professional interactions.
  • Assists and performs delegated responsibilities positively.
  • Attends staff meetings; communicates effectively with patients and the care team.
  • Performs delegated procedures safely and efficiently.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by Physician, Supervisor, or Manager.
Qualifications Required
  • High School diploma.
  • 1–2 years of prior experience in an ophthalmology role.
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in ophthalmic photography.
  • Certification as a Retinal Angiographer, when eligible.
