PurposeEvaluate and provide training to residents in daily living and social skills in order to assist them in achieving and maintaining their maximum level of functioning and independent community living.
Essential Responsibilities- Evaluate and provide training to residents in daily living skills including, but not limited to: personal hygiene and grooming (which may involve physically assisting individuals to complete the tasks), housekeeping, laundry and clothing care, meal planning and preparation, money management and budgeting, socialization, and recreation leisure activities.
- Implement group and individual programs which promote growth and development toward independent living skills for residents.
- Assist residents in preparation of daily schedules to include performance of household chores, social activities, and other meetings and appointments.
- Complete and ensure the timelines of all assigned documents and forms to include daily progress reports, CILA shift reports, van log sheets, incident reports, MAR sheets, etc.
- Monitor maintenance of living facility to assure safe, clean and healthy environment for individuals. Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, and mopping, and monitor and assist residents with daily bedroom maintenance.
- Monitor residents to ensure wellness and safety.
- Supervise resident’s schedules and activities to ensure timely arrival to day program or other appointments.
- Supervise and assist residents in taking their medication in accordance with program guidelines.
- Attend and participate in staffings as requested.
- Assist in planning and supervising recreational and social program activities.
- Plan menus and assist with meal preparation as required. Monitor and support residents with special dietary needs.
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings.
- Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies following Health and Safety Care, First Aid, CPR, and other procedures as necessary.
- Monitor and assist residents with personal grooming and appearance as necessary.
- Immediately report any medical/behavioral issues or emergencies or other unusual incidents to House Manager, Administrator, QIDP, and Registered Nurse Trainer.
- Complete training on the Skills System and ability to implement with all members.
- Must be able to pass Safety Care training, demonstrating physical ability to perform all stability holds and leg wraps.
- Transport and accompany residents to appointments and other services, including work centers, as needed.
- Check all rooms upon arrival to ensure that all residents are home and regularly monitored to ensure wellness and safety.
- Check and secure all doors and windows to ensure building safety. Nightly alarm system activation/deactivation as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
