DescriptionShift: 36 hours per week (0.9 FTE), 3 12‑hour night shifts, rotating based on schedule needs. Permanent Friday and Saturday night shifts every week included.

The OR Scrub Technician is a member of the surgical team in the operating room under the guidance of the registered nurse, who is responsible for the care and safety of the patient.
The OR Scrub Technician is responsible for preparing the operating room for each surgical patient.
Responsibilities- Gather supplies, instruments, and equipment needed to ensure efficient and safe conduct of each surgical procedure assigned.
- Care for and handle specimens, surgical instrumentation, and other items assigned.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures requiring standing for periods greater than 6 hours.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of aseptic technique and take corrective action when technique breaks.
- Use fine motor skills and eye‑hand coordination to handle small intricate instruments, supplies, and specimens.
- Provide complete, accurate communication to all members of the surgical team.
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure.
- Assist the surgical team, including draping the surgical site and safely handling all sharps and instruments.
- Maintain accurate count of supplies, sutures, and sponge items on the sterile field.
- Orient new staff to the ORST role.
- Stock the room with supplies and equipment.
- Provide on‑call coverage for the department (specialty or general) as designated by the manager.
- Following orientation, OR Technicians take calls according to the On‑Call policy.
- High school diploma.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technologists.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (healthcare provider level).
- Physical demands: lift/carry up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 50 pounds.
- Certified surgical technologist.
- Minimum of 2 years current OR scrub technician experience.
