Overview

Chicago Glaucoma Consultants is seeking a skilled and motivated Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe to support our ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering exceptional patient care. Responsibilities
  • Gather patient details and chief complaint
  • Conduct preliminary eye exams, including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and basic refraction
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as OCT and visual field testing
  • Administer eye medications under provider direction
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures and laser treatments
  • Accurately document patient data in electronic health records (EHR)
  • Educate patients on eye care and medication usage
  • Work closely with the clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow
  • Enter details alongside the MD into EHR
Qualifications
  • Preferred:
    Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
  • Experience:

    At least 1 year in an ophthalmic setting is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in diagnostic testing and ophthalmic equipment
  • Knowledge of ocular anatomy, common eye diseases, and treatment protocols
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Willingness to train motivated candidates with a long-term commitment preferred
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Completion of an accredited ophthalmic technician program or a college degree is strongly desired
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment
  • Flexible and adaptive to evolving clinic needs
  • Reliable transportation to commute to Glenview, IL 60026
