Chicago Glaucoma Consultants is seeking a skilled and motivated Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe to support our ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering exceptional patient care. Responsibilities- Gather patient details and chief complaint
- Conduct preliminary eye exams, including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and basic refraction
- Perform diagnostic tests such as OCT and visual field testing
- Administer eye medications under provider direction
- Assist with minor surgical procedures and laser treatments
- Accurately document patient data in electronic health records (EHR)
- Educate patients on eye care and medication usage
- Work closely with the clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow
- Enter details alongside the MD into EHR
- Preferred:
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) - Experience:
At least 1 year in an ophthalmic setting is highly desirable - Proficiency in diagnostic testing and ophthalmic equipment
- Knowledge of ocular anatomy, common eye diseases, and treatment protocols
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Willingness to train motivated candidates with a long-term commitment preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Completion of an accredited ophthalmic technician program or a college degree is strongly desired
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment
- Flexible and adaptive to evolving clinic needs
- Reliable transportation to commute to Glenview, IL 60026
