Summary/Description

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a full time Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/Clinical Pharmacist, Coordinator for the Ambulatory Pharmacy Program. This position assists and supports the ambulatory pharmacy leadership team in the design, planning, execution, and optimization of operational and clinical patient programs associated with our outpatient pharmacies.

Duties

The academic responsibilities of the clinical faculty member include the provision of didactic lectures and precepting entry level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents and PGY2 residents. Scholarly activities, including presentations and publications, are an expectation as well.

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize operational and clinical programs in the UI Health outpatient pharmacies; evaluate the programs and create and execute an action plan for improvement of these programs.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to identify and monitor key metrics and outcomes and perform quality assurance and improvement measurements.
  • Collect and analyze data for operational and clinical metrics; and perform workflow analysis to identify methods to automate, streamline, or otherwise simplify workflows.
  • Collaborate with the ambulatory pharmacy leadership team, other coordinators, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and externs to ensure that patient care is optimized in a manner that is fully integrated with the needs and demands of ambulatory pharmacy services.
  • Assist the ambulatory pharmacy leadership team with the development of long and short-term strategic plans, and to investigate, implement, and optimize billing and reimbursement opportunities for pharmacy services.
  • Promote outpatient pharmacy services to patients, providers, and others at UI Health.
  • Serve on interdisciplinary committees.
  • Attend and represent the department at university and UI Health committees.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited college of pharmacy Pharm

    D program
  • Licensed or eligible for Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist by hire date
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a pharmacy setting and/or leadership role in lieu of completion of a post graduate year 1 residency and/or fellowship
  • Two years of clinical and operations experience in ambulatory care pharmacy practice and thorough understanding of workflow processes
