Outpatient Pharmacist Supervisor

Saint Anthony Hospital – Outpatient Pharmacy / SAH Pharmacy

Rotating shifts, 1.0 FTE (40 hrs/week)

Position Purpose
  • To provide efficient and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • To review and monitor the medication therapy of patients.
  • To supervise the work of pharmacy support personnel.
Essential Functions
  • Dispense medications according to hospital and departmental policies while adhering to all state and federal laws.
  • Evaluate and monitor all medication orders, and review medication profiles to prevent drug interactions, drug‑food interactions, drug‑laboratory interactions, avoid allergic reactions, ensure correct dosing based upon patient specific parameters, and promote selection of the best and most cost‑effective medications.
  • Provide drug information to all health‑care professionals upon request; provide patient education on the use of high‑risk medications.
  • Direct the activities of pharmacy support personnel.
  • Ensure proper receipt, storage, and record‑keeping of all controlled substances.

Job Requirements
  • Ability to calculate appropriate medication dosages based upon pharmacokinetic parameters.
  • Ability to identify significant drug interactions.
  • Ability to work well with employees and patients of varying ethnic backgrounds.
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm.

    D. degree required.
