POSITIONSUMMARY
Under the direction of the Business Office Manager the Front Desk Representative performs a variety of administrative tasks to arrange for the admission of patients to the surgery center and will continue to monitor the patients’ status and location while in the surgery center.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES- Greet and speak with patients and family members in a friendly and compassionate manner.
- Coordinate preadmission verification on all scheduled admissions; coordinate with patient accounts as needed. Input data from patient questionnaires; collects and verifies patient data at admission.
- Complete admitting registrations in a professional, accurate, customer oriented, and timely manner including collection of copayments and deductibles from patients.
- Give appropriate instructions to patients at the time of admission.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with others including physician offices, insurance companies, patients and others about insurance benefits and costs associated with procedures.
- Telephone, log, and fax insurance companies when required for reimbursement.
- Proactively approach problem identification and solutions.
- Demonstrate appropriate time management skills, prioritization, and task completion.
- Maintain waiting area and front desk area in a neat and orderly manner.
- Demonstrate ability to work within a stressful environment under consistent deadlines, pressures, and interruptions.
- Demonstrate compassion every day without reservation; puts others first; respect others and their differences; show empathy for others.
- Maintain confidentiality of Center and patient information at all times.
- Present neat appearance in proper attire and identification.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS certification (upon hire)
- One year of front desk experience in a medical office or surgical center.
